Arrived in KC from the eastern time zone so it was lunchtime in our heads but still too early for most of the local places to be open. We stumbled upon The Brick because it was the only place in the area open at 10am. Sure glad we found it! It's a cross between a bar and a diner - and if you're looking for either, I recommend this place. Good home cooked food and prompt, friendly service. Wife had the deep-fried Oklahoma dog and I went with the meatloaf sandwich. She had onion rings and I stuck with fries. All good choices!

The brick is located slightly off main Street in the crossroads. Parking wasn't too bad and there are a ton of nice bars around to stop at after your meal. The brick feels like a welcoming, even homey, dive bar. The decor was spot on and made you feel instantly at ease (in my opinion). The server was so friendly and attentive, even after we waited about 45 minutes to order for some friends to arrive. I absolutely love that this spot has so many reasonably priced options that can be made vegan or vegetarian. I went for the vegetarian meatloaf sandwich which is made in-house. The flavor was well seasoned, although I did wish the chipotle ketchup stood out a bit more. The meatloaf texture was a bit soft - but honestly it was a great vegetarian option. As someone who hasn't had meatloaf in years, this scratched the itch for me. The sides are good as well, the tots were cooked perfectly. They also had a ton of tasty local beers to try which I appreciated. Will definitely be back here to enjoy more of their menu! A nice gem for Kansas City to have.

This is one of many DDD joints in Kansas City, which I really didn't know was on the TV show until I went in... I selected The Brick for lunch on the day I went as a result of all the positive reviews. I've pretty uch given up on trying to find DDD joints to visit when I travel (as I travel for work a LOT!!) because so many are either stuck on their being on the show or have gone out of business since (also as a result of being big-headed from being on the show)... so, I've found it to be the kiss of death for those who don't know how to properly manage their business. But not here!!! Sherry, who owns this business, is so very friendly and amazing! She comes up with all the items on the menu herself, which is incredible, as she's also busy running the front of the house of her business. The day I went, they were moderately busy for late lunch. No bands were playing, but they have a stage and bands play often here. The menu is loaded with interesting, original dishes she's come up with. I had a hard time deciding, so while sitting at the bar, where she was working/serving, I asked her what's good and when she said the meatloaf sandwich, I went for it, not realizing it was also featured on DDD. I started with a cup of chili and I loved that when I asked for it, she countered by asking how I wanted it topped! I chose jalapeños - yum! The chili was flavorful, with more than one style of bean and loaded with plenty peppers - yum!! The meatloaf sandwich was incredible! The meatloaf was soft, flavorful, and perfectly put together to be sturdy without hard or tough. Incredible flavor and texture, which seem to be the tough part about making the perfect meatloaf. And the bread it was on was incredible! Overall - loved it! I also got their double-beer battered onion rings as a side and those were awesome! Nice sweet onions inside with a great, not to tough batter on the outside! Overall, great service, great menu, great execution... This is truly a place that deserves the 5 stars they are getting. She's doing it right and I hope she continues to be successful! I'll definitely visit when in town again!

Quirky dive bar vibes. We arrived less than an hour before closing time, but the staff was super welcoming and provided great service. That was an instant standou. I Dont make it a practice of arriving within an hour of closing time, but when I have, the service team has been less than friendly (which I understand). We ordered drinks and wings, both of which came out quickly. I had the hot wings and my colleague got the sims wings. Both were flavorful. Not particularly spicy, but very good!

The Brick is good description for this one. Brick outside, more brick inside. Graffiti covers the walls. The bar area is charming. Our server was gracious and attentive. I had the Pubby burger. It was tasty. The fries are hand cut in the kitchen and definitely did not taste frozen. Local bands play on Friday and Saturday evenings. Starting at 10pm. The server said the meatloaf sandwich is very good. I would go back to try it. I wish there was more space on the bricks to leave a personal message. Good place to take someone out of town to experience one.

My husband has been here before but this was my first visit. This is a fun friendly dive bar in the Crossroads district. Fair warning, parking can get tricky. They have live music, poetry readings and story telling; Tuesdays - Saturdays (times vary). They serve local beers and drinks. The majority of the food is also local and made to order. We started with the Fried Ravioli with marinara sauce. Both of which were very tasty. We both ordered a burger with fries. My husband ordered the Sriracha Bacon Burger. He said that it is truly for a sriracha lover. The patty was thick and juicy and has the heat promised by the aioli and pepperjack cheese. I had the Pubby Burger, again the patty was thick and juicy. Normally this is topped with blue cheese, but I was able to switch the blue cheese for pepperjack. The staff was very friendly and helpful and substitutions can be made on almost all of the menu. They have a menu for almost everyone. So many different options and flavors. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu and possibly some live entertainment.

Ok, one day I was working in the midtown area of KC. It was lunchtime and I was in the mood for a veggie burger. I know, right? Anyway, I Googled "veggie burger nearby" and this place popped up. I checked the menu and they had a veggie burgers and a couple of good reviews, so I headed over. First impression, typical little neighbor bar. Clean, nice smells in the air diverse dining crowd. I sat and a very helpful waiter brought me hot coffee and ice water on request. Now remember, I came in for a veggie burger. There is a veggie burger on the menu, and a note that any of the specialty burgers can be made with a veggie patty. Flexible! More interesting was they have a meatloaf sandwich on the menu. I love meatloaf sandwiches. At the bottom of the meatloaf sandwich there was a note "veggie version also available". I ordered the veggie meatloaf sandwich and it was really good. I also liked the sweet potato fries on the side. I liked it enough that I've been back several times since, alone, or with family members, with work colleagues, and once with a client. A couple of side notes about the menu. I have since had the veggie burger and it's really good. Definitely provides a full burger experience without the grilled flesh. The surprising item on the menu was veggie dogs. I've tried veggie dogs from the grocery store and have yet to be impressed. The veggie dogs here are really good. Try it, you'll like it! It's casual dining, and a friendly neighborhood place.
